Kim Beom is cast in Tsui Hark’s new film




Actor Kim Beom was recently cast in the world-renowned film director Tsui Hark’s new film.
On August 16, King Kong Entertainment, Kim’s agency, reported that Kim was cast in the film Detective Dee Prequel (working title), a new film of Tsui Hark.
A lot of Chinese people are paying close attention to the film at the news that Tsui Hark and Huayi Brothers, the biggest entertainment company, will make the film together. Along with Kim, Feng Shao Feng (China), Angelababy (Hong Kong), Mark Chao (Taiwan), and Lin Gengxin (China) were cast in the film.
Kim became popular in China through KBS 2TV’s drama series Boys Over Flower. He’s attracting a lot of attention because he’s the only Korean actor who is cast in the famous Chinese director Tsui Hark’s film.
Tsui Hark has been acknowledged as a talented director in Asia, including Hong Kong, and many international film festivals. He was a member of the judging panel for the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, and he has made such popular films as the A Chinese Ghost Story Seriesthe Once Upon A Time In China Series,and Swordsman.
Kim says, “I’ve grown up watching Tsui Hark’s action films. I’m so happy to be part of his film and I’ll do my best.”
Detective Dee Prequel will be released next year. Tsui Hark has been shooting the film in China since last month. Kim will fly to China and join the filming at the end of August.
